Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve

I’m still trying to incorporate elements of the landscape into my wildlife photography.  This Northern Gannet colony, however, is very busy and constantly in motion.  It’s difficult not to get caught up in the excitement.  Reflecting on these images I’m starting to see that it’s better to isolate the landscape element first and then hope the wildlife cooperates.

Puffin Patrol

What an incredible experience and what an amazing group of people.  This is a great cause and if you love wildlife this is a great way to give back.  As you can see from the photos the Piffling’s are definitely the stars of the show and there is lots of love for these little birds.  We were lucky enough to rescue and release a little puffin named Banjo.  This little bird was very lively and is easy to spot in these photos as he struggles to avoid being put in the pouch to be weighed.

Elliston Puffins

It’s been a struggle but I am trying to pull back a little and incorporate more of the landscape in my wildlife photography.  Puffins have such expressive faces and are so interesting to watch it’s hard not to get caught up in the show.
